Our Jewellery Friend: Colin Jackson

British former sprint and hurdling athlete who specialised in the 110 metres hurdles. During a career in which he represented Great Britain and Wales, he won an Olympic silver medal, became world champion twice, World indoor champion once, went undefeated at the European Championships for 12 years and was a two-time Commonwealth champion.

We spent many months looking for a unique individual who upholds our core values to collaborate with. We sought a person who: is determined and motivated; pays attention to the smallest of details; is driven to achieve excellence in all they do. We are proud to introduce Colin Jackson CBE as the first Friend of David Fowkes.

Colin is a highly decorated athlete, reflecting his dedication and determination to achieve excellence.
His accolades include three time World Champion, Olympic silver medalist, seven time European Champion, two time Commonwealth Championship winner and World Record holder in the 110m Hurdles. He set the indoor 60m hurdles world record in 1994, which remains unbeaten to this day. Colin was awarded an MBE for services to athletics in 1990 and a CBE in 1992.

Colin retired from competitive sport in 2003 but has remained engrossed in the world of sport as a television presenter, coach, mentor and role model. During 2018 Colin wore a number of David Fowkes pieces at events he attended, including the EG Awards and Allianz Olympics 2021-2028 sponsorship announcement.

Colin challenged David to make unique jewellery for a charity fundraising event

Colin collaborated with David to create a unique set of menswear jewellery for the Teens:)Unite charity ‘Tales and Tiaras Gala Ball’ which was held at The Dorchester on November 30th 2018. Organised by charity Co-Founder, Karen Millen OBE, the annual gala raises money to support young people who have been diagnosed with cancer. The charity supports them through their treatment and beyond, as they rebuild their lives. In searching for new ways to raise awareness of the Teens:)Unite charity, Colin challenged us at David Fowkes to create a new piece of menswear jewellery to be worn on the night. We love a challenge, and David designed a bespoke lapel piece and bow tie studs for Colin to wear. It was a wonderful evening with significant amounts of money raised for the charity.
