We were delighted to welcome Isaac Murphy into the gallery with his Mother, Fiona, and intrigued as he explained his desire for David to create a bespoke engagement ring for his girlfriend, Naomi. Isaac explained that Naomi loved the engagement ring worn by his Mother: sadly, his Father has recently passed away and Isaac wished to commission a unique ring to be made, inspired by his Mother’s engagement ring, so that he could propose to Naomi. Isaac knew that he wanted Naomi to love and cherish her ring for a lifetime and was keen to involve her in the design process. After his initial visit and discussions with David, Isaac brought Naomi into the gallery to meet with David and embark on the exciting commission process.
As Naomi lives in London and Isaac works in Scotland, opportunities to meet up at Thoresby were carefully planned. They worked with David to take the original ring and ensure the new design was perfectly matched to Naomi’s style and lifestyle. Sapphires and diamonds were sourced for the couple to view, and once all the elements were in place the hand manufacturing commenced. Each stone setting was made by hand, cutting and bending sheet gold, each stone was set under the micro-setter, and the ring took form over a number of days.
Isaac officially proposed to Naomi…and, of course, she said yes! We were delighted that Naomi popped into the gallery with her Father so that we could make a final adjustment to the sapphire setting and ensure she had her dream engagement ring. We are looking forward to seeing them again in the future as we make their wedding rings and hear all their plans for the big day!
